What is Digital Transformation?

Searching for a definition on Google will yield about 176,000 results … so, for clarity, this is what we mean

Digital Transformation are new ways of working, made possible by technology abundance, that accelerate new products and services, and make people happy.

If we reflect how we work today, as compared to a decade ago when we did not have a smartphone, we can see the applications of this definition.

What does it mean to be out of the office when the office is now in our pocket or purse? It engages us to work in different way, learning the new skill of spreading an 8 hours workday onto 24 hours – not easy but we will all agree, new.

How many apps do we have on our phone, tablet, device, TV, etc. and how fast are they changing. A minute ago I thought I was fully upgraded and I now have another 14 pending updates. We may feel dizzy at the pace of change but we have to also agree, it is accelerating.

Finally, the questions of happiness comes. Are we more happy – or just satisfied – or occupied? Some of the people I meet are happier, they can balance the demands of their young families with those of work in ways their parents never could. Other find they can have a more meaningful impact at greater scales thanks to digital ways. Finally, those who are remote and vulnerable can connect to a global network of people. Happiness is the aim, and it is not being reached for everyone.

We still have to do a lot of work on digital transformation.
